Remembering Our Christmas Delights
"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight".
- Kahlil Gibran, 1883-1931, Poet and Novelist "

Christmas is upon us for another year and with this festive season comes a mixture of many emotions. The Christmas season has a wonderful way of making most of us more emotional as events, family members and friends we celebrate with remind us of our joyful traditions and memories. At a very young age we are taught that Christmas is a happy time where miracles happen, relationships blossom and families are loving and get along, everything is suppose to be 'right' in the world for this special time of the year. Unfortunately, for many people, they only experience glimpses and moments of this lovely picturesque view.

But what happens when this festive season doesn't evoke moments of joy and loving feelings inside of us? Well, if you have been fortunate enough to enjoy one of these moments, be thankful and give thanks. If you have had one at sometime, be thankful and give thanks. If you have never had one of these moments, be thankful anyways because the opportunity to receive this joy and love still exists.

Despite our intentions to make this the happiest time of the year, sometimes many of us feel depressed, sad, lonely and/or anxious. So, how could this happen at the most joyful time of the year? Holidays often remind us of our goals and expectations that have not been achieved in our lives and become a marker of time and judgement as we reflect on what is and what isn't, yet. Therefore, this time of the year intended for expressions of gratitude and appreciation for what we have, sometimes only reminds us of what we don't have and all our perceived imperfections of our lives, our unachieved goals, missed opportunities, failed challenges and lost relationships.

In this Christmas season coming let's try something different, look around at what you have and if you need to, imagine if you didn't have it and how you would feel? Notice what happens inside of you? These are your blessings in life that want to feel the honour and grace of your gratitude this season. Enjoy your gifts from life; embrace them as often as you can in a loving and kind way remembering that there are no guarantees in life, instead life offers us exactly what we have right now, and each moment of everyday.... that's our guarantee from life.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Happy!
Until the new year.....
